Galleria Mazzini, Genova

Municipality Technical Office

The Galleria Mazzini in Genoa is inspired by Parisian passages. The decoration of the floorings continues right up to the edge of the buildings and give importance to each shop window. Furthermore they create a contrast with the surrounding area with their strong pavements in Colombino slabs, which are dark and homogenous. The occasional entrance of natural light permits to observe the veins of the stone. Colombino is laid along two longitudinal lines, occasionally crossed by stone paths where the single slabs are laid with a traditional overlap on the center. Other pedestrian flows are inserted perpendicularly to the main axis and are marked by an octagonal insert delimited with a purple band.
